Unlocking Domestic Resources to Advance Holistic Development – Philanthropy – Public- Private Roundtable

An integrated developmental strategy becomes paramount amidst a rapidly evolving socio-economic landscape. The capacity to mobilize collective expertise and resources across the public, private, and philanthropy sectors is essential for tackling complex issues that surpass individual efforts and are critical for sustainable development. Acknowledging this, comprehensive dialogue and concerted collaboration are imperative for driving significant socio-economic transformations across East Africa.

In this context, in partnership with the Philanthropy Forum of Uganda and the East Africa Philanthropy Network invites you to the “Unlocking Domestic Resources to Advance Holistic Development – Donor Roundtable.” Scheduled for August 30, 2024, from 8 AM to 11 AM at the Global Fund Offices, this crucial event will convene key stakeholders to:

  • Develop a mutual understanding among leaders from diverse sectors, including government agencies, private sector entities, philanthropic donors, and civil society, to enhance cooperative effectiveness and streamline the implementation of DRM strategies.
  • Formulate frameworks that critically evaluate and enhance existing regional DRM mechanisms to optimize efficiency and inclusiveness, ensuring more effective resource management and allocation.
  • Pinpoint and leverage financial tools and sectoral strengths to foster the development of robust local capital markets, enhance accessibility to sustainable financing, and support broader economic growth.
  • Establish ongoing mechanisms for training, resource provision, and support to financial and regulatory institutions, enhancing their capabilities in resource management, transparency, and accountability to ensure sustained collaboration and adopt.

The expected outcomes include specific, actionable policy recommendations to improve DRM frameworks, strategic initiatives to strengthen local financial markets, commitments from various stakeholders to support capacity-building initiatives, and the creation of a detailed roadmap for implementing discussed strategies.
