Kengen Foundation

KenGen Foundation is the corporate social investment arm of Kenya Electricity Generating Company PLC (KenGen), East Africa’s leading power producer. Established in 2012 and registered under the Trustee (Perpetual Succession) Act, the Foundation serves as the vehicle through which KenGen delivers structured, long-term social investment to communities neighbouring its 25 power stations across Kenya. Its work is anchored in three pillars: education, environment, and water and sanitation, with additional investments in economic empowerment, health, and humanitarian response. The Foundation primarily targets rural and marginalized communities in areas affected by the socioeconomic and environmental footprint of KenGen’s installations, and involves them directly in the planning and implementation of programmes. KenGen Foundation is also a member of the Kenya Association of Fundraising Professionals (KAFP), and the Africa Venture Philanthropy Network (AVPN).
