Publication : The Ubuntu Spotlight – 8th Edition, 2024

Dear Family,

We are pleased to introduce the 8th Edition of the Ubuntu Spotlight, showcasing noteworthy projects and compelling narratives that foster beneficial changes within our communities. I sincerely appreciate your constant support and involvement as we address the challenges in this sector. Our progress has been marked by a continuous stream of meaningful activities, demonstrating the foundation of assistance underlying our shared efforts.

The foundation of our organization rests upon our members, who have consistently shown their dedication to our guiding principles. Through their decision to work alongside us, our collaborators have exhibited an unwavering commitment to enhancing global conditions via cutting-edge and impactful projects. I sincerely thank the EAPN secretariat, whose tireless efforts and commitment propel our mission forward.

We are equally proud to share the success of our recent two forums in Kampala, Uganda. The first was themed, “Strategies for Community Mobilization through Participatory Approaches and Local Advocacy,” on August 29th, 2024, at Protea Kololo, Kampala, Uganda. Additionally, we held a high-level round table on “Unlocking Domestic Resources to Advance Holistic Development for Sustainability” from 8 am to 11 am at Global Fund Offices, Lumumba Avenue, Kampala. Both functions proved highly educational, providing valuable learning experiences, knowledge-sharing opportunities, and networking for all participants, further inspiring our shared commitment to vibrant philanthropy in the region.

We are delighted to extend an invitation to you for the upcoming forums. The Kenya Philanthropy Forum is set to host a significant event in partnership with the East Africa Philanthropy Network and the Kenya Community Development Foundation. This gathering will convene civil society organizations across Kwale County focusing on “Innovating Local Resource Mobilization for Sustainability.” Planned to take place at the Diamonds Leisure Beach & Golf Resort, Diani, on September 9th, 2024. The Rwanda Philanthropy Forum will also host “Advancing Evidence-Based Practices: Enhancing Skills in Measuring and Reporting Impact” on September 12th, 2024, in Kigali, Rwanda. There will be a high-level development dialogue on “Unlocking Domestic Resources through Public-Private Partnerships” on September 13th, 2024, at Sainte Famille Hotel, Kigali, Rwanda. These events are structured to encourage lively, informative exchanges on crucial industry matters and to develop collaborative endeavors that support our shared objectives.

We recommend saving the dates for two critical upcoming conferences: the APF Conference in Morocco this October 27 – 29, 2024, and the 2024 APN Assembly in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, from November 4-8, 2024. These gatherings will bring together forward-thinking individuals worldwide, fostering an environment for collaborative innovation and significant progress.

This edition also presents several global articles that readers could leverage to enhance their knowledge of philanthropy. We are also pleased to share a few opportunities that would be expedient if explored!
