Our Valued Stakeholders,
I extend my heartfelt gratitude for your untiring support and engagement as we navigate the complexities of this year. The journey thus far has been characterized by a seamless progression of impactful activities, proof of the robust support network that underpins our collective endeavors.
Our members, the keystone of our existence, have consistently demonstrated their commitment to the ethos that guides us. Our partners, in their choice to collaborate with us, have shown a resolute dedication to improving the global landscape through innovative and meaningful initiatives. To the EAPN secretariat, whose diligence and dedication drive our mission forward, I offer my deep appreciation.
Recent weeks have seen us convene thematic and country-specific focused gatherings in Kenya and Uganda, the details of which are thoughtfully summarized in this edition. These sessions have proven informative, offering invaluable learning opportunities for all involved, and further invigorating our collective aspiration towards excellence.
In alignment with our commitment to excellence, we are pleased to announce our collaboration with the Tanzania Philanthropy Organization and the Foundation for Civil Society in hosting a seminal event in Arusha on April 18th. This convening, centered on ‘Financing Locally-led Climate Action,’ promises to be a key moment in our ongoing discourse. Concurrently, we will delve into ‘Operationalizing the Sustainable Development Goals within Community Foundations’, aimed at strengthening both emerging and established community foundations in Tanzania. We encourage you to stay tuned for further details on our social media channels. The same month will also mark our debut in Ethiopia, in partnership with the Philanthropy Forum of Ethiopia, signaling a continued commitment to our strategic growth and impact across the region.
We invite you to actively engage in our initiatives across various levels. Participate in our
Working Groups, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), to contribute to focused areas of impact. For broader influence, consider joining a
National Philanthropy Forum or becoming a
member of the East Africa Philanthropy Network (EAPN) to be at the forefront of philanthropic innovation and contribute significantly to building a resilient and sustainable philanthropy ecosystem across East Africa.
Looking ahead, in collaboration with CAPSI, Trust Africa, Southern Africa Trust, the Africa Philanthropy Forum, the Africa Philanthropy Network, and EAPN, we will host the 5th Africa Philanthropy Conference in July at the Elephant Hills Resort in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. Additionally, the APN assembly in November in Victoria Falls hosted by the African Philanthropy Network will also provide an excellent platform for engaging with key philanthropic actors and agendas – purpose to participate in all these. Preparations are also underway for the East Africa Philanthropy Awards later this year, with more details to be shared in due course.
I urge you to continue engaging with the wealth of content we offer, including this newsletter. To ensure you receive all our updates, please
